LEAD San Diego Appoints New President and CEO

San Diego, (September 18, 2007) – LEAD San Diego has announced the official appointment of Judy Forrester to the position of permanent President and CEO. Forrester joined LEAD San Diego in July of 2006 as a consultant serving as Interim CEO.

LEAD San Diego has been developing civic leaders for more than twenty-five years. “Under Judy Forrester’s management, LEAD will continue to educate and empower civic leaders who can understand and respond to ever-changing challenges facing the region,” said new Board Chair Kristy Gregg.

Over the past year, Forrester has led strategic planning and re-engineering activities to help steer LEAD toward its next 25 years of service to the San Diego/Baja region. “She has encouraged a level of accountability and professionalism that is unsurpassed,” said immediate past Chair Steve Williams. Williams, who was instrumental in bringing Forrester on board, was impressed with her experience and professionalism.

“Judy has set a standard for management and ‘best practices.’ She has proven her ability to understand and respond to the unique needs and challenges facing non-profit organizations,” he added.

Prior to joining LEAD, Forrester led the start up of the San Diego County Medical Society Foundation. She served as a senior officer of the American Red Cross San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter during its restructuring led by Jerry Sanders; was Vice President of Public Relations at American Specialty Health; served for five years at the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce as Director of Social Service and Healthcare Policy and later as Director of Corporate Relations.

Forrester has resided in the San Diego area since 1980. She graduated from San Diego State University in 1984 with a degree in Business Management. Married, with three children, she and her family reside in Poway.
