2006 LEAD Member Celebration

Each year, LEAD San Diego endeavors to express appreciation to all active LEAD graduate members - many of whom devote tireless talent and an extraordinary personal commitment toward strengthening the nation's finest city and enhancing the lives of those who reside within it. The LEAD Board of Directors and Graduate Council designed this event as a special thank you to the ever-growing number of LEAD Graduates and to commemorate over two decades of outstanding leadership and service to the San Diego region.

This year’s event was held on Wednesday evening, November 29th, at the beautiful home of Debra Erickson Mills and Lew Mills. On the edge on the Bay just next to The San Diego Yacht Club, the Erickson-Mills’ home is newly renovated and proved to be the perfect setting for this annual gathering

LEAD Graduate Members stepped off The Old Town Trolley, where they were provided with name tags and shoe booties, and were greeted by members of the Celebration Planning Committee. Attendees ranged from current LEAD class members, to veteran LEAD members from the early 1980s. After an hour spent enjoying cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and visiting with friends old and new, Steve Williams, President of the LEAD Board of Directors, and Larry Fitch, Graduate Council Chair made brief remarks regarding LEAD’s 25th year of community leadership development. Emphasizing that LEAD will continue providing education on the pressing issues that impact us at this critical time in our region's history, Williams encouraged the leaders assembled continue their valuable work. "One person can't affect change, but together, we can accomplish anything. When you take off your blue booties tonight, walk forward in leadership and leave your footprint...”

A record number of LEAD members in attendance – some whom haven’t seen in quite some time – and a true testament to the work of our Graduate Council.
